Our client plans to significantly expand its presence in the hydropower sector, building on a strong base of expertise and experience and a global presence.
The role will be to expand the range and size of our clients hydro business internationally, through leading effective business development, championing hydropower across the company and assisting in identifying skills needs.
Additionally, the BD manager will be expected to form close relationships with other our clients companies and external organisations as partners to win business for the group.
Job Description:
The candidate would ideally be familiar with the hydroelectric power market and have a thorough understanding of a wide range of the technical disciplines so that he/she could engage with clients who often have a strong technical background Ideally the candidate will have a proven track record in winning work.
Good people skills and excellent literacy skills are prime requirements as the candidate will be required to persuasively convey to potential clients the reasons why employing our client would be in their best interests. These skills would also be deployed internally to maximise the benefit for the Group as a whole.
The business development manager will be required to:
• Be a key member of the Hydro Board, which is tasked with taking forward hydropower business for the benefit of all parts of the company globally.
• Be accountable to the Hydro Board for the development of the market plan and business plan for hydropower across our client, drawing on all relevant parts of the group and drive through associated actions.
• Build and maintain targeted client relationships around the world, working through regional representatives and/or sector specialists where appropriate to maximise our reach in the targeted areas.
• Take responsibility for the delivery of successful large proposals, building support internally and drawing on resources across the Group as appropriate. Support smaller proposals.
• Lead development support for hydropower across our client including maintaining market intelligence, marketing material and bid material.
• Recommend staffing requirements based on knowledge of market needs.
Significant travel would be expected including visits to remote locations. Visits would normally be of one to two weeks.
Candidate Specification:
Essential academic, professional qualifications and experience:
First degree in an appropriate discipline is essential.
Experience of large international projects and an appreciation of the hydropower sector.
Experience in managing client relationships either on projects or as a business developer
