You will be part of the Web Application Servers operational team within SDE/SIO/SAM/ASM.
The team is mainly composed of 3 subteams :
- Application Server subteam : managing nearly 2000 J2EE applications servers -mainly Websphere
- Application Server Network Deployment 5 & 6, a few Websphere Portal 4, 5 & 6 (and also maintaining a few instances of NetDynamics, BroadVision, Tomcat).
- Proxy subteam : managing Webseal (Tivoli Access Manager for e-Business), Tivoli Federated Identity Management, Reverse Proxy (based on Apache) & Apache web servers.
- Content Management subteam : managing Teamsite and all related components (OpenDeploy, LiveSite, Site Publisher, MediaBin, …)
Right now, we are looking for someone to complete the Application Server subteam.
As there is a tight link between the products above, the knowledge of the other products is more than welcome.
Daily tasks will be :
- Incident Management : incidents can either be created automatically by monitoring agents or they can also be created manually by people. Incidents can be of various type : information request, small configuration modification, application not reachable anymore, application specific problem, performance issue, access problem, ...
- Change Management : we have to execute planned work - for which we have given our agreement before - either initiated by us (ex : provisioning of new application servers) or by other team (ex : application release for which we have work to do)
- Hotline : one week every 6 weeks – tasks to do : answer the phone during business hours, process & assign tickets (incidents), give feedback for changes and assign tasks for the future changes to all team members, check the functional mailbox.
- On-duty : one week every 2 months – tasks to do : answer the on-duty phone outside business hours (so also during the night and the weekend) and process the incident for which you are called. There can also be some planned work from time to time.
Profile :
- Min 10 years of IT experience.
- Min 5-7 years experience with Websphere 5 & 6 administration on Linux/Unix in large environments (> 50 production application servers) : installation, configuration, application deployment, tuning, troubleshooting
- Expertise in vertical & horizontal clustering (failover, high-availability, load-balancing) for Web requests (http/https) and RMI/IIOP requests.
- Good knowledge of the tools and procedures required to implement Disaster Recovery solutions
- Good knowledge of Websphere Portal 5 & 6
- Knowledge of jacl & jython scripting language
- Knowledge of asynchronous messaging solution (like Websphere MQ) is a plus
- Knowledge of monitoring tools : Tivoli, BMC, …
- A J2EE developper background is a nice added value (like the knowledge of the most popular framework/API : spring, hibernate, struts, flex, …)
- Experience with Load & Stress tests results analysis.
- Experience with web servers and reverse proxy (preferably apache)
- Troubleshooting ability of the whole access chain : Reverse Proxy – Web Server – Application Server – Backends (database, ERP, SOA, SAP, …)
- Experience with SOA
