Telephone interviews are a great opportunity to get further introduced to a client. Not only does this get you speaking directly to the client, it also allows us to further clarify how strong a match the role might be before moving forward to a face to face stage.
Telephone interviews do, however, come with certain challenges that we need to be aware of and also prepare for. Remember underestimate your telephone interview at your own risk!
The obvious barrier to performing well in a telephone interview is the simple fact that you are not in the same room. As such it can be difficult, for example, to fully articulate yourself, read body language or completely understand what is being asked. Couple this with potentially bad line connections, outside interference and distractions and it becomes evident that preparing for a telephone interview is an absolute must
