Face to Face Interview: Your Decision/Final Interview

Changing role, company and increasingly country is a massive decision for both you and your family.  Often we enter an interview process thinking only of getting through the interview not actually accepting a job;  resigning from a current company; working a notice period; relocating yourself and your family to a new region.  Of course our priority is to ensure that a client is interested in your profile, however, we also need to use the interview opportunity to give you the information you need to be able to make an informed decision.

Furthermore, in an increasingly fluid market place companies have even more choice in the candidates that they see.  Our relationship with many of our clients, however, mean we can be proactive in securing you your desired role.  To do so we need you to be in ‘decision making mode’ as quickly as possible so we can positively impact a process.

In our experience a number of factors play a role when we look to change role.

  •  Location/travel.
  • Role/responsibility.
  • Cultural/Personality fit.
  • Career progression/reporting lines.
  • Remuneration.

In an ideal world all of these will be the same of better than your current situation.  What’s important, however, is that you work together with your agent in getting clarification on these points as soon as possible.

Remember: your interviewers will be very busy people – we all are!  This is a fantastic opportunity for you to have to have access to their time.  Use this to the best of your ability to get answers to the questions that are important to you.  Each candidates needs are unique – make sure you work closely with your consultant in identifying your needs as early as possible and getting these answered.
