Face to Face Interview: Body Language
1. Dry firm hand shake at beginning and end of interview
2. Good posture; don’t slouch, sit upright, but not too “wooden”
3. Don’t cross your arms and don’t wave them about too much, maybe clasp them together…
4. Maintain eye contact and smile so you seem interested. If more than one person talking, look at the one talking. Try not to stare or have a permanent smile, you don’t want to appear scary.
5. Keep an open stance, so you seem welcoming, not defensive/evasive
6. Make sure your body is facing the interviewer
7. Mirror their tone, stance and general attitude to help make them feel at ease and more welcoming to you
8. Don’t fiddle, this suggests nervousness
9. Overall just try to look and feel relaxed
IF THEY ENJOY TALKING TO YOU, THEY WILL WANT TO MEET YOU AGAIN!
